Founded in Calgary in 2010 there are now kitties holding it down from coast to coast in visual and performing arts. Big Kitty Crew holds the important role of encouraging a prominent female presence in the Canadian contemporary art scene, representing innovative expression within urban art forms and hip hop culture.


Big Kitty members work professionally in industries such as visual art, graphic design, hip hop and contemporary dance choreography, aerial acrobatics, fashion photography, custom painting and gallery/studio management.

The kitties work collaboratively; promoting and facilitating multidisciplinary art events that allow visual artists, performers and musicians to work together in a creative environment. These art events fundraise for a variety of artist-run centres and galleries including ARTSPOT, Motion Gallery as well as individual projects, including the FORTUNE CAT interactive installation at Burning Man.
